It was lunch time so it was hard to find anyone in their room. They spoke to several of the residents at the manor. They especially enjoyed talking to Evelyn who is a former missionary in Mexico.The girls loved visiting, and are looking forward to their next visit to Rose of Sharon Manor.
The interesting thing is that not one manicure was given that day. But God had other plans. These 2 young ladies touched the hearts of a different generation and from listening to Katie and Amy's bubbling account of their visit, I believe those 2 girls' hearts were blessed.....maybe even more than those they visited.
Jerry and I are just so proud of those 2 for the mature way they went about making a project they decided to do become a reality. Even Shannon, (the lady who they first spoke to and who gave them the tour) was very impressed with the maturity that Katie and Amy showed.She is looking forward to them coming back and has asked that they come in the morning or afternoon so people won't be at lunch ......that way, they will be able to hook up with more ladies.....and yes.........maybe even give a manicure !!! Katie and Amy are 12 years old and decided that they wanted to go to a nursing home and give manicures to whoever would like to have one. They wrote up an introduction and got on the phone and called a local nursing home. They introduced themselves and told the lady what they wanted to do and asked if their nursing home would allow them to come and do manicures. The lady from the nursing home was elated and invited them to come the next day!They asked their parents for a ride and set up a time to arrive the next day at 11:00am.
Katie and Amy put together 2 baskets with nail polish, remover, cotton balls etc.
