Home Free Ministries was founded in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN
Jerry and his wife, Lin, moved to Cedar Rapids, IA and established the ministry in many senior living communities in East Central Iowa.
Jerry and Lin relocated to Des Moines, IA to expand the ministry to Central Iowa.

The need for qualified Christian visitation ministers has grown at a rate faster than our churches have been able to provide. Home Free Ministries works with church leaders to help develop visitation ministries through recruitment and training of Christian men and women volunteers.
Many seniors live a life of quiet desperation. They may be lonely and scared and without hope for the future. Others may know the Lord, but after years of loneliness, they feel a sense of abandonment by friends, family, and maybe even Jesus himself. What a frightening existence that must be!
Home Free Ministries reaches out to these people and gives them a sense of future and hope. Through caring volunteers and other resources, we bring to them the good news of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. By sharing His love, we assure them that they are valued citizens in the Kingdom of God. We are currently involved in serving seniors in Central and East Central Iowa, by offering caring fellowship, Christ-centered worship services, Alpha classes, Bible studies, and much more.
"Here I am, send me"...
Rev. Jerry L. Fagerland
Founder and Executive Director
Jerry resides in West Des Moines, IA with his wife of 41 years, Lin. They have 4 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. When he's not ministering to the elderly, Jerry loves to golf, play cards, watch sports (Go Cubs & Hawkeyes!), and spend time with family and friends.
Jerry has had a heart for seniors his entire life and was called to support them decades ago. His 30 years of business management experience, a B.S. Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota- Mankato, and a 2 year program (Gerontological Pastoral Care Institute) at Luther Seminary, has uniquely positioned him to be a premier advocate for seniors.
His strong faith, business experience, education, and love of the elderly, provided the springboard for the establishment of Home Free Ministries.
